AND for the Foam Rolling Seminar which will be taught by Abby Gillard, PT, DPT, CSCS. Abby Gillard moved to the Capital Region in the Summer of 2010. She works locally as a physical therapist at Empire Health and Wellness Center in Latham, and as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Emma Willard School in Troy. Abby played Division I soccer at Dartmouth College, where she was a team captain, 2nd team All-Ivy League selection, and NSCA Strength and Conditioning All-American. She graduated in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Classical Archaeology. She pursued her interest in coaching as the assistant women’s soccer coach at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and became involved in local youth club soccer organizations. She also co-founded a summer training program in the area, which incorporated fitness training, leadership skills, and soccer-specific training for female high school soccer athletes. She continued her education at Columbia University, earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2009. Her clinical interests include adult and adolescent sports medicine, orthopedics, and women’s health. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach she enjoys working with athletes of all ages on injury prevention and sports performance. She brings her own experience as an athlete into her physical therapy practice, and strives to help athletes and individuals of all ages manage injuries while continuing to work towards their fitness and life goals. When she is not working with patients or training high school sports teams, Abby enjoys running, skiing, and several other outdoor sports. She is currently training for her first Ironman.
