When/Why did you first start doing CrossFit?
I started in September of 2012. I knew someone who had done it in the past and it looked challenging and I was so tired of the gym routine.
What fitness activities were you doing before?
Mostly just running, I did a few 5ks. I didn't actually become active until 2007, I was 240lbs, with a 42 inch waist that smoked a pack a day.
What results have you seen since you joined CrossFit Beyond?
After my first class with Stacy and Eugene, I couldn't move my arm for a week, but after 1 month I was doing pullups with no band. I have gotten inverted and I can do double unders. Also, with the nutrition classes that Joy did, my diet has improved and last summer was the first time I felt comfortable taking my shirt off near a pool.
What do you like most about CF?
Like everyone says, it feels like a family. I usually go to the 5pm or 6pm classes and its great seeing the same faces. We cheer each other on and we all suffer together through the wods, Its addicting, and I look forward to going each night.
What is your favorite CF exercise?
My ideal WOD would be clean and jerk, kettle bell swings, and box jumps.
Your least favorite?
Sit Ups. I hate the the 100 sit up afterparty. Deadlifts are also my worst enemy.
What CF accomplishment are you currently most proud of?
We did a strict pull up ladder the other day and I completed 6 full rounds. I can also back squat 235lbs.
What CF goal are you working towards?
Handstand pushups, getting to the top of the rope, and getting better at deadlifts.
