Sneakers and Hero WODs!!

May is a month dedicated to  paying tribute, honoring, and remembering the men and women who have served our country and sacrificed their lives for our everyday freedoms...CrossFit Beyond is hosting 3 events in the next 2 weeks to honor our American Heroes.


We are partnering up with worldwearproject.com to collect gently used sneakers, that will be donated all over the world to people in need. We will have bins available at all of our events, where the sneakers can be donated. Check out more information below:

This event is being put on by CrossFit Discovery in Charleston, SC. Their goal is to complete 100 hero WODs from 9:00am to 3:00pm across the nation on this day. CrossFit Beyond will be registering with this charitable event for the 9:00am time slot. 9:00am workout is TBD at this time, but check back for more details. Memorial Day with Meaning


Remember the Heroes is a charitable event held annually on Memorial Day by CrossFit Discovery. Hundreds of athletes come together in Charleston, SC to complete 100 CrossFit Hero WODs. Each workout is specifically dedicated to men and women of our armed services who died in the line of duty. We will never forget the tremendous sacrifices made for our freedom. 100% of all registration fees, donations and sponsorships will benefit the Travis Manion Foundation and The Citadel'sWarren A. Frank Leadership Fund.


ABOUT THE FOUNDATIONS


  1. Shortly after the death of 1st Lt. Travis Manion in Iraq on April 29, 2007, the fallen Marine’s mother, the late Janet Manion, founded the Travis Manion Foundation to assist our nation’s veterans and families of the fallen. TMF engages with veterans and families of the fallen in all stages of their personal journeys and offers them unique opportunities to empower them to achieve their goals. TMF believes that the best way to honor the fallen is by challenging the living. TMF challenges veterans and survivors to lead the “If Not Me, Then Who…” movement and inspire others to continue the service to community and country exemplified by the nation’s fallen heroes.




 2. In memory of Marine Capt. Warren A. Frank, Citadel Class of 2004. Frank was killed in Iraq in November 2008 while delivering humanitarian aid. He is one of 15 Citadel graduates to have died in the line of duty since the war began.

#3- MONDAY MAY 25TH-MEMORIAL DAY MURPH WOD @9:00am-

4th Annual Murph Memorial Day Workout at CrossFit BeyondFamily, friends, and pets are invited to partMini Murph and Smurf Murph can also be done as a workout!!

Murph is a CrossFit WOD done in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. This workout was one of Mike's favorites and he'd named it "Body Armor". From here on it will be referred to as "Murph" in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is. Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.(http://www.crossfit.com/mt-archive2/000881.html)
