Spotlight Athlete-Amanda!!

This week's Spotlight Athlete is Amanda! Amanda joined CrossFit Beyond, just over a year ago! Amanda has accomplished some amazing feats in the past year and has become a much stronger athlete since joining CrossFit. Read on to learn about Amanda's inspiring story!


When/Why did you first start doing CrossFit?

 I just hit my one year anniversary of CF last week! I had my on-ramp last November at CrossFit Beyond. I started becoming more consistently active and running in summer 2013 in preparation for my first spartan race. After I finished my second race that summer, I was looking for a gym and for something that would make me a stronger runner and overall athlete. One of my friends I raced with lived in Albany at the time and suggested I look into CrossFit.


What fitness activities were you doing before? 

Prior to CrossFit I was running alot, swimming, going to zumba and biking with my dad!


What results have you seen since you joined CrossFit Beyond?

While I have gotten better at Crossfit, this past summer I really did see how CrossFit has made me a stronger athlete. I started running Obstacle Course Races not just for fun but for time and placed within my age group and qualified for the OCR World Championships. In the past year, I've also run a Ragnar Relay Race, skated in a 5K Nordic Skate and completed an eight day kayaking trip from Albany to NYC. These are all accomplishments that a I would have never of even signed up for a year ago. I have definitely become an all around stronger athlete, which has translated into my increased endurance and being a stronger runner.





What do you like most about CrossFit Beyond? 

I can say that without a doubt that I have been happier than I have ever been. At Beyond I haven't just found workout buddies but I have found people who are just as invested in fitness and health as I am. The types of people that are at Beyond are the types of people that I want to keep in my life forever.


What is your favorite CF exercise?

My favorite CF exercise is definitely hand stand push-ups.


Your least favorite?

Wall balls. There is no making them better.


What CF accomplishment are you currently most proud of?

 I am proud of the fact that I participated in my first CF competition!


What CF goal are you working towards?

Currently I am working on getting Toes to Bars and Pull-ups!
