This week's spotlight athlete is Ben! Ben is usually a night class attendee. He has been with CrossFit Beyond for quite some time! Read on to learn more about Ben's great story!
When/Why did you first start doing CrossFit?
I first started doing CrossFit in high school after my math teacher showed me the main page during a study hall.
What fitness activities were you doing before?
I played baseball and wrestled in high school. I followed a general weight lifting plan in the gym as well.
What results have you seen since you joined CrossFit Beyond?
I have noticed that my body feels more agile, like I have a bounce in my step. My strength has definitely improved since joining, but the greatest area of growth has been in my understanding of lifting techniques.
What do you like most about CrossFit Beyond?
Being a part of a smaller box and knowing everyone there by name. I have gone to larger gyms in the past and the community aspect just isn’t the same. Also having a personal relationship with some of the staff here is very comforting and CrossFit Beyond feels like a second home to me because of it.
What is your favorite CF exercise?
Burpees are my favorite, and that’s not a typo. I do not find them as demanding as others do.
Your least favorite?
Least favorite would probably be thrusters. They are downright miserable to do and very taxing on the whole body.
What CF accomplishment are you currently most proud of?
400# deadlift. I’m not a super strong guy but that was a big moment for me.
What CF goal are you working towards?
Increased work capacity for better scores on the AMRAPs.
