When/Why did you first start doing CrossFit?
I started in January of 2012 (however I have to miss a few months here and there due to being on the road for training a lot). My fiance, Amanda, suggested for us to try Crossfit. I went to my first class at CFB right after the New Year and have been hooked since.
What fitness activities were you doing before?
I did organized Physical Training (running and other boring exercises) 3x a week for 3 years with my Army ROTC program until I commissioned in May of 2011. After that a took a few months off because I was so sick of being told how and when to workout. Around October 2011 I started to notice weight gain and I then started a "fitness boot camp"..That lasted about 2 months until Amanda finally convinced me to try Crossfit.
What results have you seen since you joined CrossFit Beyond?
I lost 30 lbs which is my biggest/proudest accomplishment. I was also "weak" before Crossfit...I definitely couldn't do a pull-up let alone squat clean a bar that weighs more than me!
What do you like most about CF?
The fact that I can do a 10 minute exercise and get more out of it than running for 30 long minutes. It's also great to go in every night and work out with a group of motivating people that have become your friends.
What is your favorite CF exercise?
Cleans of any sort, Pull-ups, Squats, and GHD sit-ups...Complexes are also fun!
Your least favorite?
Burpees and thrusters! I highly dislike deadlifts but that's because I still have a lot of work to do on my form.
What CF accomplishment are you currently most proud of?
I will always be proud of the fact that I went from doing 0 pull ups to now being able to do 2 strict pull ups in a row and 15 kipping in a row. I also increased my Army PT test score and now get the maximum score of 300.
What CF goal are you working towards?
A hand stand push up!!!!! I am terrified of being upside down and I'm slowly working on getting vertical by myself.
