Spotlight Athlete- Michael!!

This week's spotlight athlete is Michael! You will most often see him at the noon or 4pm class. Read on to learn more about Michael's story!

When/Why did you first start doing CrossFit?

My first class was July 25th, 2012.  It was a 20 minute AMRAP of pull-ups, pushups and air squats.  I had to use a green band for the pull-ups and could only do about 3 to 4 pushups at a time.  Joy came up to me at the end of the workout and said “don’t worry Michael we usually don’t do 20 minute AMRAPS.”  I am sure she thought she would never see me again.  But next week will be my 1 ½ year anniversary at Crossfit Beyond.
 What fitness activities were you doing before?

I was going to Gold’s gym, using the treadmill and stair climber.

What results have you seen since you joined CrossFit Beyond?

Since joining Crossfit I have seen a significant increase in my strength and endurance.   Also, for the first time ever I look forward to working out every day.  Joy is awesome, she is a great trainer and a great friend.

What do you like most about CF?

I like that the workout is different every day and Olympic lifting piece.

What is your favorite CF exercise?

Pull ups and deadlifts

Your least favorite?

I hate rowing and thrusters!!!

What CF accomplishment are you currently most proud of?

Being able to do handstand pushups, which I thought I would never be able to do.

What CF goal are you working towards?

Consecutive double unders and I want to be able to do a muscle up by the summer.
