Spotlight Athlete of the month is BACK!!

After a bit of a hiatus, Spotlight Athlete of the month is BACK!!

We are going to begin highlighting a couple of our members each month again, as a way for our members to get to know a little bit more about each other. Sometimes members only get to know the people in the classes they attend or see faces of those who attend classes before or after the class times that they attend. This is an awesome way to learn a little about other members that you might not know or see often!!

1. Tell us about yourself.

This is always the hardest question to answer! I am a medical sonographer and work three jobs (1 full time and 2 part time). I am very active in my church, Grace Fellowship, where I teach 4th grade Sunday school and am currently preparing to go on my first mission trip to Haiti. I love to travel, but I also love to be at home since my husband and I just bought our first house in March. My favorite things in life are: spending time with my family, traveling, having fires at home with smores and wine, running, Crossfit, the beach, going to church, watching football (go Giants!), and pizza! I think that about sums it up lol.






2.When/Why did you first start doing CrossFit?

I started Crossfit about 3 1/2 years ago. My good friend, Michelle, tried to talk me into going for months before I actually caved in and went with her. I was instantly addicted from day one.

3.What fitness activities were you doing before?

Before Crossfit, I was running, swimming at the YMCA, and working out at Best Fitness on my own. I thought I was in decent shape until that first week at Crossfit totally kicked my butt.

4.What results have you seen since you joined CF?

Results I have seen since starting Crossfit are: muscle definition and more energy in the morning.

5.What do you like most about CrossFit Beyond?

Aside from the amazing friendships I have at Crossfit, the thing I like most about it is the variety in the daily WODs. When you go to the gym by yourself, you kind of get stuck in the same old routines.

6.What is your favorite CF exercise? /Your least favorite?

Well everybody knows I love my floorwipers! But my other favorite exercises are cleans, bench press, overhead squats, pistols, pull ups, wall balls, and running! My least favorite exercises are snatches and burpees!

7.What CF accomplishment are you currently most proud of?

My Crossfit accomplishment that I am most proud of is doing 6 strict pull ups in a row lol.

8.What CF goal(s) are you working towards? How close are you to reaching them?

A specific crossfit goal I am working towards is perfecting my pistols. And I would love to be able to do toes to bar also. Other than that, my overall goal at Crossfit is to get my butt there every morning by 4:45am and stay in shape. I have a lot of back problems so I never really set goals of increasing my 1 rep maxes anymore. For me, it's more of staying healthy and fit.

9.If you could create a WOD what would it look like?

If I could create a WOD, it would definitely be a chipper WOD with LOTS of running. I looooove chippers. And running! Everybody always hates my bday WODs lol.

Fall 5k suggestions!

With Fall just around the corner, some of our members have expressed interest in doing a CrossFit Beyond Fall 5k Road Race!

There are so many races in the Capital Region during the Fall and we would love some input and suggestion from our members! We would love to start planning and organizing this ASAP!

Two ideas that have some up so far are the Dunkin' Run on Sunday September 17th

On-Ramp Sat. August 12th! Share with Family and Friends!

ON-RAMP CLASS


- 5 Hour On-Ramp class is for anyone interested in joining CrossFit Beyond

 - ON-RAMPs will be included in the first month membership. In other words you have to sign up for a month. $125 includes the first month membership plus the on-ramp class. We feel that in order to really know if you like CrossFit and CrossFit Beyond you need to try it for a month.


- Learn the 9 fundamental movements to CrossFit, which is required to start your membership at CrossFit Beyond. Learn the Squat, Press and Deadlift family. Prepare yourself to go into one of the fastest growing strength and conditioning programs out there.
