You are not supposed to do the ‘Rx’ workouts
A lot of people walk past a CrossFit gym and assume it is not for them. Here is the truth we tell every new member at CrossFit Beyond: you are not supposed to be able to do the “Rx” (prescribed) workouts. CrossFit is designed to be scaled to your current fitness level, and scaling is not a beginner crutch — it is how the whole system works, for everyone, forever.
What scaling looks like in class
Our classes are semi-personal training in a group class format. Every workout is modified to the athlete’s skill and capacity, so it both challenges your capabilities and meets you where you’re at for the day. The coach shows you an individualized version of every movement: PVC pipes instead of barbells, box step-ups instead of jumps. Your only job is to accept the easiest option offered.
Hard skills, broken into progressions
The programming is classic CrossFit: GPP (general physical preparedness), hard skills broken down into progressions, and the infrastructure for fostering elite fitness in regular people. You learn to move large loads, long distances, quickly — but you learn it in steps, coached the whole way.
Built for regular working people
Our whole gym is built on a simple idea: we help regular working people learn hard skills and improve their habits. Strength and conditioning are skills that can be built in an inclusive environment focused on long-term health. You do not need to be in shape to start. You need to start to get in shape. Book a free consult and we will show you your first scaling.
